If you’ve never had your driveway replaced before, it can feel like a big project. At Valley Blacktopping, our goal is to make the process as smooth and stress free as possible and to deliver a finished driveway you’ll be proud of for years to come. Here’s a look at how we get it done.

Before We Begin

Before any work starts, we take care of the details:

• Pulling the necessary permits for your project

• Filing for utility locates to mark underground lines and keep everyone safe

We’re also mindful of your property. Our crews work carefully around your landscaping and home, and we maintain a clean, organized job site from start to finish.

Step 1: Removing the Old Driveway

Our base crew arrives first to carefully remove your existing driveway. This isn’t just tearing out asphalt. We make a full sub cut, removing soft spots or problem areas in the ground so we can rebuild from a clean, solid base.

Step 2: Building a Strong Foundation

Once the old driveway is out, we bring in new class #5 recycled base material. We spread and grade the base so it slopes properly for drainage, and then we compact it to create a solid foundation.

Proper drainage is one of the most important parts of any driveway. Taking the time to get the slope and compaction right now helps prevent future cracking, heaving, or water damage.

Step 3: Letting the Base Settle

In most cases, we let the base sit for one to two weeks before paving. This extra time allows the material to firm up and stabilize, giving your new asphalt the best possible surface to rest on. Every project is different, so our skilled team will decide the ideal timing based on your driveway’s unique conditions.

Step 4: Installing Your New Asphalt

Once the base is ready, our paving crew comes in to install your brand new asphalt surface. We take care to ensure a smooth, even finish that looks great and performs even better.

Step 5: Final Touches & Clean-Up

After paving, we make sure your property looks as good as it did before we arrived. If decorative rock or mulch was pulled back during prep, we put it back neatly in place. We remove any debris from the work area so you can immediately enjoy your new driveway without a mess to clean up.

From Start to Finish

Most driveway replacements take about one to two weeks from the first day of prep to final paving. The exact timing can vary depending on your driveway’s condition, the weather, and the unique needs of your property.

We recommend waiting one week before driving on your new asphalt and two weeks before parking vehicles on it. This allows the surface to properly cure and ensures it stays smooth and durable for years to come.

Our promise is simple: we’ll take the time to do the job right so your driveway lasts for years to come.
